Breaking: Republicans hear woman's testimony on coal pollution. Afterwards, attempt to have her arrested for child pornography. →

Maria was going to show another picture to the House subcommittee yesterday, this photo, which is a photo of a five year old child bathing in that kind of brown, poisonous water. The child is naked, as you normally are when you bathe. I’d invite you to click that link, and think about what, if anything, distresses you about it… Maria was told that she would not be allowed to show that photo. It was not appropriate. She had the blessing of the child’s parents, but Republicans on the subcommittee alerted the capitol police (according to Spencer Pederson, a spokesman for GOP panel members), and after the hearing, the capitol police took Maria aside for questioning about “child pornography.”

I love this title omg

I have a dream!

maybe im thinking a little too hard but, i dont think this is something to laugh at. This child’s dream is to work alongside their mother. to do the hard work [because in all reality it is the janitors, the factory workers, those in food service who face the REAL stress. moreso than the the CEO. yeah, i said it] that they see their mother participating in. it sounds like Ashanta is holding their mother in a high esteem [being as it’s their “dream”] and i dont think there’s anything wrong with that. if one is laughing because it’s a dream that is not “ambitious” i would argue against that too. one can guess that Ashanta is a child of color, and vowing to one day have a place of employment while occupying their body IS ambitious to be quite frank [assuming this is a cisfemale child of color, but these are assumptions im trying to keep from making concrete]. to not only want to have employment [because they couldve said another of TRULY frivolous things] but to also maintain a familial relationship that society constantly tries to destroy within families of color [racially motivated DHS, CPS, social workers, etc] is monumental. this child’s dream is to WORK with their MOTHER.i think thats beautiful.fuck anyone for laughing at it.

i really love your break down. thank you.

@Novembernegro I disagree, and you are an awful person for using reciprocal racism in justifying this child’s ambition. It’s awful that our society is so broken that she is  aspiring to work at a job in the lowest economic bracket. Not go to college, not get an education, not do something with her growing mind. Of course people who work as janitors and in factories and the food service industry face the most stress and arduous work schedules, but why should we be applauding a small child’s ambition to go straight towards hardship? Yes it’s great she is being realistic and not saying she wants to be a princess or the president, but honestly? Your opinion on the issue is not acceptable, we cannot continue to use reciprocal racism to whine about society and justify something like this, we have to look at how broken society is, reflect on it, and change it. This young girl can work hard in school, aspire to get an education, and do something great to the world. Taking this child’s “ambition” on such a serious note is also wrong, she is obviously young and will not decide to work at Taco Bell forever, we shouldn’t be using the idiocy of some who are laughing at this to fight a whiny war against society using reciprocal racism. The self-righteous fucks like you who are taking something idiots are laughing at, can’t realize that they’re dumb for laughing at it and turning it into your own outlet of proving your genuine acumen into the situation and its reflection on the reality of our society, are the idiot who should be laughed at.

Here’s the raw interview footage of those two white trash dumpster rats who robbed a Girl Scout of her cookie money in broad daylight in front of a Florida Winn Dixie.

I love this video. It’s like an underground trailer for Harmony Korine’s “Spring Breakers.” It’s pitch perfect, a delicious little slice of uncut American narcissism.

These tacky little cunts have no guilt. They have no shame. They’re stupid, shallow, Starbucks-swilling sociopaths.

Of course you hate them. You’re supposed to hate them. That’s the whole point, though. You’re not supposed to reflect. You’re just supposed to react.

By all means, hate these two little pieces of shit. Hating them is cheap and easy and it feels good, but while we’re at it, let’s also take a hot minute and recognize ourselves.

This is our culture. This is who we are, and not even at our worst. These girls are perfectly average. They had an average public education in an average middle class neighborhood in an average city. They are average American teenage girls in every way.

That’s the most wonderful and horrifying thing about this video. It’s inescapable fucking poetry about the American experience filled with Girl Scouts and what they can grow up to become.

It really is our culture. It really is who we are.

Yup. These people talk like this. No respect for women. No respect for other human beings. Absolutely disgusting.

We have just 13 days to defeat North Dakota Measure 3, which will be on the state’s primary ballot June 12th. It is a state constitutional amendment that simply goes too far and could deny a woman basic medical care such as birth control. We need your help. This dangerous amendment states that “The right to act or refuse to act in a manner motivated by a sincerely held religious belief may not be burdened unless the government proves it has no compelling governmental interest…” We need your help because if this state constitutional amendment passes, it will certainly move to other states and it could have far reaching and alarming consequences:• A man could claim domestic violence or child abuse laws don’t apply to him because his religious beliefs give him the right to beat his wife and children.• An employer could deny birth control coverage or other needed medical treatment to a woman under its health plan on basis of the employer’s religious belief.• A pharmacy could refuse to fill a birth control prescription on the basis of its religious belief.
Help the campaign to defeat Measure 3 and put an end to this so-called “religious freedom” amendment that could endanger women’s health. If passed, Measure 3 will spread - we cannot allow this to happen. Say NO to 3!

During this, the queen of England’s Diamond Jubilee, I’d like to take a moment to celebrate the American men and women who died so we wouldn’t have a fucking QUEEN.
